HOW CAN A CHIRO HELP?

Research supports early assessment and treatment for patients suffering with musculoskeletal pain for best short and long term prognosis. Chiropractors have a 5 year university degree making them highly trained in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders. People usually seek chiropractic care for back pain, neck pain and headaches, as well as for general health and wellbeing.

WHAT IS A CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENT?

A chiropractic adjustment involves using an individualised force applied to a specific joint of the body that is fixated, “locked up”, or not moving as it should. This can help improve or restore motion to the joint, helping the spine to gradually regain normal movement and function. There are many ways to adjust the spine. Usually, the chiropractor’s hands or a specially designed instrument delivers a brief and highly-accurate thrust. Restoring better spinal function can help improve mobility, pain, and athletic performance.

WHEN TO CONSIDER CHIROPRACTIC?

Spinal pain and other musculoskeletal disorders can be caused by work, accidents, sports injuries, household chores, posture and even the stress of daily living. Chiropractic can help if you are experiencing aching joints or muscle pain that is affecting your ability to get through the day, or preventing you from doing your favourite activities. It can also help maintain a healthy spine and prevent future conditions, even if you don’t suffer from pain.

People commonly visit a chiropractor to help:

  • back pain

  • neck pain

  • headaches

  • jaw pain

  • whiplash

  • sciatica

  • disc issues

  • poor posture

  • work and sports-related injuries

  • arthritis

  • pregnancy pain

  • muscle tension or pain

  • restricted movement in the back, shoulders, neck or limbs.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DRY NEEDLING AND ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is an ancient medical practice, originating in China more than 2,000 years ago. It uses metal needles to stimulate points in the body, often known as acupuncture or pressure points. While acupuncture does appear to help in the treatment of some conditions, the theory of acupuncture is not able to be explained by current medical science. Like acupuncture, dry needling is a technique that involves puncturing the skin with fine needles to relieve pain. Dry needling targets trigger points within muscles to relieve pain and muscle tightness, while acupuncture stimulates nerves and aims to affect energy and organ systems. Our chiropractors are trained and experienced in performing dry needling.
